The survey objectives are to collect information on the water consumption habit of domestic households in Hong Kong, obtain the domestic water consumption patterns including the inter-use time preceding potable use, and collect water samples at a kitchen faucet. The householders were required to fill in self-completed log-sheets recording their daily use, one in weekdays and one in weekends. A total of 2 500 face-to-face household interviews were successfully enumerated, representing a response rate of 52%.
